Happy International Women's Day to our Female Team Members!

We know we’re a little late for #internationalwomensday2021, but still wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the tireless hard work of our female-dominated and female-led team at Catcuddles, who are of all ages and backgrounds.

Our all-female veterinary staff have soldiered on through the Covid-19 pandemic, in spite of the challenges involved in launching a low-cost veterinary clinic in the midst of a nationwide lockdown. Whilst many rescues have halted their rescue activities, the clinic has accommodated an almost constant influx of cats, prioritizing those that are stray, abandoned, and desperately unwell, all the while adapting to operate within government guidelines. They have overseen a number of complex and specialist surgeries, and restored cats in appalling condition to a state of stable health.

Our Head of Welfare, the woman that founded Catcuddles and has spearheaded its growth ever since, has been working 12-hour shifts daily since the Clinic launched. Most recently, in spite of the Clinic being closed at the weekend and not currently offering out-of-hours care, our Clinic staff and Head of Welfare took shifts monitoring a critically-ill cat, ensuring that she had constant supervision.

Our volunteer team, which is predominantly female but does include some wonderful male volunteers, has been equally staunch in the face of a challenging year, adapting and modifying processes to ensure that every aspect of the daily running of Catcuddles can continue. Fosterers, adoption coordinators, administrators, transport volunteers, and those charged with the daily care of cats at Catcuddles HQ, have not wavered in their commitment to making a difference - working as ever, not for monetary gain, but to better the lives of cats in need.

Thank you to all the women who are, or have been, crucial to Catcuddles throughout its ten years spent rescuing cats.

Although there is often so little time to spare to say it, you are appreciated. So to you, and to all the women working tirelessly in the field of animal rescue, happy International Women's Day!
