Planning Crisis - We Won!

In February of 2017, the founder of CatCuddles was denied permission by Greenwich Council to continue fostering a number of cats at her home, something she had been doing for almost ten years and for the purposes of rehabilitating and rehoming them.

This was a big blow for CatCuddles, as through this fostering, the charity has saved hundreds of cats' lives, and had planned to save a great many more.

Our founder began proceedings to appeal the decision, and behind her were volunteers, adopters and beneficiaries of the charity's work who were also aghast at the turn of events.

The CatCuddles team were moved and cheered by the messages of support that flooded in, and the many letters, tweets and emails that were sent to the council on our behalf.

Over 9000 signatures were collected, and our fundraising goal to cover the cost of the appeal was reached within hours due to a number of generous donations.

Today, we're very happy to announce that the spirit and perseverance of the CatCuddles community paid off. Our appeal was successful, with the planning inspectorate disagreeing with the council on all three points of refusal.

Permission was granted for the continued fostering of cats at our charity founders' home. The result of this decision is that many stray, abandoned and unwanted cats in Greenwich will not go without help; instead they will be found loving and permanent homes.

It has been a long and difficult year for the charity, but we end it so grateful for our amazing community of supporters, and thankful that justice and kindness have prevailed.
