Three cats given the chance of company, love and shelter at Christmas with Catcuddles

It is not always kittens and cuddles at The Catcuddles Sanctuary, and we’re ending 2021 by sharing an update on three unexpected Christmas Eve arrivals.

9 year old Ninja was living on his own since his owner died, with a relative coming in to feed him twice a day. With no possibility in the family to rehome, thanks to a generous group of friends offering to sponsor a senior cat, Ninja came to us within 24 hours. A little less senior than we had expected - originally Ninja was thought to be 16 - we found a lovely, cuddly mini panther with a zest for life and human company. We know Ninja’s sponsors don’t mind as it meant he was not spending Christmas alone.

Another lovely black kitty, Flavio, is the latest lucky cat to find one of our volunteers. An unneutered tom, all attempts to search for a home were fruitless and his neutering is our top priority come January. Many a stray has found her garden over the years; they know the best place locally to find help! Flavio is a scared cat whose trust in humans has been eroded. In time we know he’ll blossom once he realises not all will turn their back on him.

Our last arrival, Felix, is a long term stray who is estimated to be at least 5 years old and neutered in August. He was waiting for a rescue place elsewhere for many months but there are just far more cats in need than spaces so kind hearted benefactor (who has a sensitive cat of her own who really is not a fan of Felix) began doing all she could to gain his trust. Last week, just before Felix came to Catcuddles, she was rewarded with some thankful purrs. In less than two weeks of Catcuddles being contacted we were fortunate to be able to provide Felix shelter for the first time in who knows how long.

This isn’t to say we don’t have waiting lists, but sponsorship and taking initiative really do help us help as many cats as possible. All three boys will be seeing our Vet come January for a full health assessment as is standard for any new arrival and for now we continue to let them settle and get to know each of them better.

We don’t expect 2022 will bring us much rest and respite but that’s ok, we will continue to do all we can to help those who have no advocate and all we asking is that you join us however you can in helping us to achieve this.

We wish all Catcuddlers a happy and healthy new year.
